Christmas 2009

christmas eve 09 020

Christmas was so much fun this year with the girls. It's funny how much different it is now from when we were younger. Instead of being excited to wake up in the morning and open presents from Santa Clause, you stay up all night getting everything ready being so excited to see the kids' reactions.
The holiday season is a bit hectic trying to make it to all of the family parties, but it's definitely worth it! The girls got to sit on Santa's lap twice this year, once with my side of the family and once with Shawn's. Adrian refuses to sit with Santa without one of us with her, but she was so excited to open up the surprise that he gave her both times. Carly was a little curious the first time and didn't cry at all, but the second time she had to have me sit with her.

Christmas Eve my great grandma has lunch at her house and then each family shares a talent, story, or a game with everyone. Before we leave we have our own little nativity scene. Adrian dressed up as an angel this year, but I forgot to get pictures of it.
We also started a new tradition this year with Shawn's family. We all met up at the cemetery to visit Garrett's new headstone, lit candles and shared memories.

My Grandma and Grandpa Wood do their gift exchange on Christmas Eve so we headed over to one last party for the night. Adrian got a Zhu Zhu Pet (a robot hamster). She just wanted to cuddle with it but unfortunately it has wheels at the bottom that make it move and it munched up her hair. We ended up giving her a quick haircut since it wouldn't come undone.

Christmas morning Adrian ran into our bedroom to wake us up. This year Santa brought her a play kitchen. She spent the rest of the day making everyone cookies. Carly got a toy to help her learn to walk on her own. We spent the rest of the day with our families.
