Fun at the Park

The park in our neighborhood has been a lifesaver now that it's warm enough! This picture is Carly's first time going down the slide. Adrian's such a cute big sister helping her down.

Shorty

I took Carly in for her 1 year check up this week and was pretty surprised about where she measures up with other babies her age. She's always been right down the middle with her weight and height until this time. She's only in the 10th percentile in height and she's below the curve in weight. This kid loves food and she always wants to eat, so how in the world she's below the curve is beyond me. She out-eats Adrian almost every meal time.

She weighed in at 16.4 lbs and measured 28 inches. I pulled out Adrian's measurements and she was 17.8 lbs and was 29.5 inches at that age.

Carly is a little monkey lately. She climbs on everything in sight. I guess she's preparing for living the life of a shorty, I have to climb up on the counters sometimes to get into the high cupboards in the kitchen. She just took her first two steps yesterday too, so we'll see how long it takes before we're chasing her around.

All Things Girly

Adrian has always been a total girl. One of her first words was "pretty". Lately she cannot leave the house without a dress on. And it can't be just any dress, it has to be one of her big princess church dresses. Because you can't be a princess if you don't have on a princess dress. She is always watching me do my make up and wanting to try it out, so I saved an empty foundation container and now we do our make up together.

Stairs

Carly was playing by the stairs the other night and so I turned her around and showed her how to go down them. Ever since she's obsessed with them and she can go up and down without any help.

It's Fun to Be 1!

I cannot believe little baby Carly is already one! The time has flown by. She's still really easy going, and has the sweetest little personality. She absolutely loves hot dogs, in fact besides mom and dad, hot dog was her first word. Just recently we've noticed that she misses Adrian when she's not around. Sometimes (more like most of the time), Adrian wants to stay at my mom's and keep playing instead of going home with Shawn and Carly. When we get home Carly squeals for Adrian's attention. She still only has the two bottom teeth, but I'm sure the others aren't far behind since she's constantly drooling and always has a runny nose. She stopped nursing a week ago and is doing really good with the sippy cups that Adrian uses.

We had a houseful over for cake and ice-cream. For some odd reason I attempted baking a cake the night before and it didn't exactly work out, so we settled for cheesecake instead. Carly had her own cake all to herself, and I was sure she would dive right in and gulp it down, but she just played in it and licked the frosting a little bit.

I had told Adrian she could help Carly open her presents. Adrian opened the first one and said "Oh cute! My new clothes!" Oops. She got spoiled with tons of cute little outfits to wear this spring.
